How To Secure your Online Transaction

what does it mean to have a secured on-line transaction?
online security
having any successful transaction via the Internet without falling victim to scam is what it means to have a secured online transaction.
the Internet, if you agree with me is the largest marketplace where almost every kind of product an services can be sold . it covers a wider range in the sense that a buyer from Nigeria, for example. can buy any product from retailers in China or America without having to visit China or meeting with the seller face-face and yet be satisfied.

the Internet over the years have boost the growth of many businesses and still level the ground for prospective buyers like you, making it easier and more convenient to purchase products over the web. all thanks to MICHAEL ALDRICH who made E-Commerce a Successful.

Internet fraud has been in existence ever since, and i am not sure how easy it will become of it to stop existing now because of you. but i know how easy it is to have a secured online transaction. in case you missed our previous post were we covered a topic on  how to be more secured online, you can read from here now

how to have a secured online transaction

1. avoid easy-to-guess passwords
always form the habit of using a very strong password whenever you are registering on any retailer website, avoid using the same password as your username, do not use your date of birth as your password. think of a strong password. combination of words, symbols and figures will be quite strong.
2. shop from a secured website
tons of thousands of E-commerce websites are out there, but i dare you, do not take the risk of shopping in just any E-commerce website you stumble on. all are not secured. always observe every website you are about to shop on.

wep protection sign
look out for a padlock at the left side of the address bar, the padlock sign shows that your data will be secured. ensure there is additional (s) just after http which adds security layer to the data transfar.

3. avoid chopping while connected to public wifi
as i always say,  open wifi is never a good option for online shoppers. your data may leak! if you are really concerned about your bank and credit card data, you must avoid public networks. fraudsters always look for ways to hi-jack peoples account, and open/public wifi networks is just an easy way to spy and get your data as you may be connected with to the same network.
4. get a strong antivirus
buy a pro version of any good antivirus that support data protection.  kaspersky is the best option i can think of,  but if you know any other, it's all fine.

5. use a safe browser
Talking about safe browser, Google Chrome has been listed as one of the most secure browsers. Mozilla Firefox also has a lot of security features built-in for SSL and checkout pages. These two alternatives are much better than the OS defaults (Internet Explorer and Safari). Also if you’re not a fan of either browser I recommend Opera for the real techies. If you’ve never tried before it’s a very quick and constructive browser, and just as beefed with security.

6. do not forget to log out
when ever you are logged in to  any retailer website, do not forget to logout and clear your browser cache and cookies.

7. use a third-party reputable payment service
if you can, i strongly advice you use a trusted third-party reputable payment service such as paypal for your online transaction. it is more secured than just putting in your credit card number. the most obvious reason why you may wish to signup for PayPal is how widely the network is accepted. Most e-commerce websites you find online will accept PayPal payments. in case you dont trust paypal, or maybe paypal is not surpotted in your country, then GOOGLE CHECKOUT could be your next alternative.
